Review: Basic Grey Two Scoops…Sweet!

Basic Grey has done it once again!  Created another fabulous line of high quality scrapbook paper.

Consistently Basic Grey’s patterned papers have been thick, comparable to cardstock.  This new line of paper is listed as being 65# weight and true 12×12 in size.  I know this to be an important fact as I have purchased papers that are said to be 12×12 but are not really 12×12 when you go to place the finished item into an album.

The colors are refreshing and absolutely luscious.  If I were to eat paper, this would be the one!  (seriously I’ve only eaten paper a couple of times in my life, in elementary school).  The colors range from warm, pale yellows to cool, fresh blues.

The names of the paper sheets are equally inviting (almost make a person want to run right out to the nearest Coldstone Creamery to treat themselves to something incredibly fattening but yummy).  For example, one could choose to use a sheet of “Waffle Cone” which is a plaid pattern with pink, peach, and pleasing green.  We all know how unpleasing some greens can be :giggles: .  This green is simply devine in color, very refreshing and easy to look at.

If you are like me, you love to play with your exacto knife and attack swirly, floral papers with great gusto.  “a la mode” is wonderful for this.  It just begs to be sliced into gorgeous flourishes.  This paper is just covered with gorgeous pinks, yellow, blue, and more eye pleasing greens of varying shades.

For a more whimsical approach one could design a more playful page using a sheet of “Sprinkles”.  Essentially this is patterned with many, small colored dots.  Again, the color scheme involves plenty of yummy pinks, green, yellow and a bit of blue.

The papers are very versatile.  I am not at all afraid to feminize my boy pages.  Not one bit!  Boys, in my opinion, need softening up!  I can easily imagine using a sheet of the darker blue of “Blueberry Custard” along with the previously mentioned “Sprinkles” and “Waffle Cone”.

This line would also be perfect for wedding, baby girl, Valentine (there is included in the line one sheet of Cupid-covered “Cupid’s Arrow” which to me is not at all edible but hey, it works anyway!), and everyday layouts.  I can imagine also using these papers for a layout about my precious pet Guinea Pigs Noodles and Princess Piggy.

As is typical style of most of Basic Grey products, this paper line has that distressed look.  Which is great if you just don’t feel like pulling out ink.  Or, go ahead for more gusto and add ink if you’d like!  I do!

This wonderful line of paper is available for purchase as a pack (which also includes other goodies such as letter stickers and element stickers, as well as 18 12×12 sheets of the paper).  Price depends upon location.

Also available (and great for smaller projects such as cards) are 6×6 pads containing 36 sheets of paper.

I purchased individual sheets of the papers which run between .50 & 1.00 at my local scrapbook store.

Also available in the line are rub-ons, buttons, and brads.
